Android Auto apps must work seamlessly with the three types of user input typically supported in cars. These input types include the following:
- Capacitive touchscreens, which work like most phone touchscreens
- Resistive touchscreens, which can detect taps and some touch gestures
- Rotary controls, which move focus to one control at a time
Some manufacturers choose to include both rotary controls and either capacitive or resistive touchscreens in their cars.
