Opis urządzenia w chmurze

Cloud Device Description (CDD) to ogólne pojęcie, które obejmuje kilka aspektów właściwości urządzenia Cloud. CDD 1.0 (wersja CDD obsługiwana przez GCP 2.0) porządkuje te 5 elementów:

  • CDD opisuje możliwości urządzenia.
  • CJT (Cloud Job Ticket) opisuje opcje wybrane dla polecenia obsługiwanego przez urządzenie.
  • CDS (Cloud Device State) opisuje cały stan semantyczny urządzenia.
  • CJS (Cloud Job State – stan zadania Cloud) opisuje semantyczny stan zadań na urządzeniu.
  • Ustawienia lokalne to edytowalne ustawienia, które nie zmieniają się w trakcie normalnego korzystania z urządzenia.

Te formaty są zdefiniowane w podanych niżej sekcjach w języku Google Protobuf. Są one komunikowane z serwerem Cloud Print i z niego jako ciągi znaków JSON zserializowane z protobufów. W ten sposób wyświetlane są przykłady na tej stronie.

Uwaga: w tych definicji protobuf słowo kluczowe optional powinno być ignorowane. Każde pole, które w opisie znajduje się (required), jest wymagane, a wszystkie inne pola są opcjonalne (lub powtórzone).

Opis urządzenia w chmurze – format

CDD to format opisujący możliwości urządzenia połączonego z chmurą, takiego jak drukarka połączona z Google Cloud Print. Przykładowe możliwości to: drukowanie w różnych kolorach, duplikowanie lub wyświetlanie wielu rozmiarów papieru.

Uwaga: usługa Cloud Device Description została wycofana z Cloud, dlatego nie została wycofana do używania wraz z interfejsami API chrome.printing w Chrome OS.

Języki drukarki, takie jak XPS czy PPD, określają je za pomocą ogólnego języka, a następnie na podstawie słów kluczowych określają, które z nich mają znaczenie (np. które funkcje dotyczą koloru dokumentu lub liczby drukowanych kopii). Format CDD stosuje inne podejście, definiując konkretny zestaw niestandardowych protokołów dla poszczególnych funkcji urządzenia.

GCP udostępnia narzędzie internetowe, które może automatycznie przetłumaczyć pliki XPS i PPD na CDD i wizualizować nowy interfejs CDD z wykorzystaniem prawidłowego CDD.

Widać, że główna zawartość CDD jest podzielona na podsekcje. Początkowo te podsekcje to drukarka i skaner. Można stwierdzić, że CDD może reprezentować drukarkę lub skaner, a nawet obie te usługi.

Uwaga: definicje protokołów częściowych skanerów CDD, CJT i CDS zostaną ujawnione, gdy GCP oficjalnie opublikuje swój interfejs Cloud Scanner API.

Gdy użytkownik dokona wyboru i skonfiguruje wartości uprawnień urządzenia do przygotowania zadania drukowania, skonstruowana jest instrukcja dla drukarki lub innego urządzenia, jak obsługiwać zadanie. To zgłoszenie jest wysyłane z klienta drukowania (np. aplikacji na telefon komórkowy) do usługi w chmurze (np. GCP) i przechowywane wraz z danymi zadania.
