Pickup with Merchant Hosted local Store Front

Similarly to the MHLSF Trusted status, Pick up trusted status is achieved upon passing 10 consecutive guidelines checks. Ideally this could be achieved during the MHLSF trusted process as the merchants evaluated would be the same. Pickup options in fact build upon the MHLSF implementation.

Work with Google support and the Business development team to initiate the process.

Once Pickup (today and or later) trusted status is achieved, enabling a merchant for Pickup Today or Pickup Later can be done through the API by calling liasettings.setomnichannelexperience

Acceptable values are:

  • "pickupToday"
  • "pickupLater"

Additional attributes are required based on the type of Pickup.

Pick up Today

The pick up today feature allows the merchant to highlight their omnichannel purchase options directly on local inventory ads. To use the pick up today feature, the merchant must implement local inventory ads and Merchant Hosted Local Store Front. In addition, for each product opted-in to pick up today, the merchant must offer same day or next day pick up from the time the order is placed.

MHLSF Full

Clicking on a local inventory ad redirects to a product landing page that displays an item's availability at a specific store and offers the option to buy it online and pick it up at a store nearby.

Users will be shown pick up availability text which communicates that the item is available to buy online and pick up at a store nearby.

MHLSF Basic

Clicking on a local inventory ad will redirect to a product landing page where shoppers can select a store to view the clicked item's price/availability, with the option to buy it online and pick it up at a store nearby.

Users will be shown an annotation which communicates that the item is available to buy online and pick up at a store nearby.

Important: Pickup availability can be different from store local availability. To implement pick up today with a merchant hosted local storefront (basic), you're required to have a store selector showing your store's local availability on your product landing page. However, the pick up availability for a selected store can be shown during the checkout flow.

Setting Pickup values are now available in pos.inventory

Alternatively, those attributes must be submitted in the merchant's product feed. Similarly to MHLSF, a product feed enabled for Local should exist or be created to include the pick up attributes.

A detailed description of the attribute requirements and website guidelines is available on the help center:

Pick up Later

Pick up later allows the merchant to provide a direct online to offline experience for their customers. For items that can be picked up in store within a specific SLA regardless of store availability, pick up later allows the merchant to use their stores as an omnichannel asset and differentiator. Unlike other local inventory ads features, pick up later doesn't require full inventory information.
