Google Summer of Code (g.co/gsoc) ist ein Mentoringprogramm von Google, mit dem neue Mitwirkende in Open-Source-Communities aufgenommen werden. 2025 findet sie zum 21. Mal statt. Über 20.000 Entwickler aus 116 Ländern haben unter der Anleitung von mehr als 19.000 Mentoren aus 133 Ländern teilgenommen.
Google Summer of Code ist ein einzigartiges Programm, bei dem Schüler oder neue Open-Source-Beitragende ab 18 Jahren mit einem Mentor zusammenarbeiten, der sie in die Open-Source-Community einführt und ihnen während der Arbeit an einem realen Open-Source-Projekt im Sommer zur Seite steht. Die Projekte decken ein breites Spektrum an Bereichen ab, darunter künstliche Intelligenz, maschinelles Lernen, Cloud, Betriebssysteme, Grafiken, Medizin, Programmiersprachen, Robotik, Wissenschaft, Sicherheit und viele mehr. GSoC-Beitragende erhalten ein Stipendium für die Arbeit an ihren kleinen (ca. 90 Stunden), mittelgroßen (ca. 175 Stunden) oder großen (ca. 350 Stunden) Projekten. Es handelt sich nicht um ein Praktikum, aber Sie können Ihre Fähigkeiten in einem realen Softwareprojekt einsetzen und Teil einer großartigen Community werden.
GSoC ist ein sehr wettbewerbsorientiertes Programm. Warten Sie also nicht bis zur letzten Minute, um sich vorzubereiten. Interessierte GSoC-Beitragende sollten sich über Organisationen informieren, die bereits teilgenommen haben, und sich so früh wie möglich im Jahr an die Organisationen wenden, die sie interessieren.
Die Mentororganisationen für 2025 werden am 27. Februar 2025 bekannt gegeben. Potenzielle GSoC-Beitragende können sich vom 24. März bis zum 8. April 2025 unter g.co/gsoc bewerben.
