Google Summer of Code, 18 yaş ve üzeri öğrencilerin veya açık kaynak projelerine yeni katkıda bulunanların, açık kaynak topluluğuyla tanışmaları ve yaz boyunca gerçek bir açık kaynak projesi üzerinde çalışırken rehberlik almaları için bir mentora eşleştirildiği benzersiz bir programdır. Projeler; yapay zeka, makine öğrenimi, bulut, işletim sistemleri, grafik, tıp, programlama dilleri, robotik, bilim ve güvenlik gibi çok çeşitli alanları kapsar.
