This documentation is left online as supporting information for the [data dumps](/freebase).\n\n1. [Quota limitations](#quota-limitations)\n2. [Requesting additional quota](#requesting-quota)\n3. [Write-quota limitations](#write-quota)\n\nQuota limitations\n-----------------\n\nFreebase allows developers a free quota of up to 100,000 (one hundred thousand) read calls per day per person or organization, and a [write quota](#write-quota) of 10k writes per day. We believe this meets the needs of the vast majority of developers.\n\nIf you find yourself needing more than 100k API calls, consider downloading the [data dumps](/freebase/data) and querying the data locally.\n\nRequesting additional quota\n---------------------------\n\nIt's also possible to request a higher quota from the APIs Console.\n\n1. Go to the [APIs Console](https://code.google.com/apis/console)\n2. Click on **Quotas**\n3. Click on **Request more...** for the Freebase API.\n\nIf you have additional quota on your account, you will need to use an [API key](/freebase/v1/how-tos/authorizing) to take advantage of that quota.\n\nUsers who requested additional quota have the same quota on both [production](/freebase/v1/getting-started#production) and [sandbox](/freebase/v1/getting-started#sandbox) servers.\n\nWrite quota limitations\n-----------------------\n\nIn order to use MQL Write, developers must contact Freebase first. See [Using MQL Write](/freebase/v1/mql-overview#mqlwrite-overview).\n\nThe MQL Write quota that is granted is high enough to be sufficient for most applications. Default quotas on the production and sandbox servers are 10,000 writes per day.\n\nIf you reach your quota limit, the error message is `\"/api/status/error/mql/access Too many writes.\"`"]]
