  • [alpha channel] Map3DElement with autofits children now initially renders with RELATIVE_TO_GROUND altitude mode, which supports showing higher elevation areas on load for cases when the camera properties are pre-defined rather than applied using flyCameraTo. Also, on initial load of Map3DElement, if the map has children which use the AutofitsCamera API that are still working, the initial map render is deferred until they all finish working, and the camera snaps regardless of the fly-to animation setting; subsequent camera updates respect the fly-to setting.
  • [alpha channel] Polygon3DElement adds the autofitsCamera property to support automatic camera fitting.

  • Added focus-ring as CSS Shadow Part in both PlaceAutocompleteElement and BasicPlaceAutocompleteElement.
  • Added new FuelType DIESEL_PLUS and E100. Added new EVConnectorType NACS.
  • Added value, placeholder, disabled, readonly, no-input-icon and maxlength attributes to PlaceAutocompleteElement and BasicPlaceAutocompleteElement.
  • Added a 'description' property to both PlaceAutocompleteElement and BasicPlaceAutocompleteElement to provide additional context for screen reader users.
  • Narrowed the declared type of LatLngAltitudeLiteral.altitude to not allow null or undefined. Corrected the declared return type of DirectionalLocation.toJSON().

Changes:

  • [alpha channel] Route3DElement, Marker3DElement and Polyline3DElement with autofitsCamera will not cause camera updates when removed from the DOM. For Route3DElement, errors or empty responses have no effect on the camera. Also, changing autofitsCamera from true to false on a given element will not update the camera to exclude that element, but it will opt the element out of future camera updates.
  • The zIndex of an AdvancedMarkerElement is now determined by its explicitly set value or, by default, by its vertical pixel position. Explicit values take precedence over the default. To avoid markers lower on the screen without a zIndex unexpectedly overlap those with one, we recommend applying zIndex consistently across all markers.
  • TypeScript declarations now include an interface mapping HTML tag names to JS classes (google.maps.HTMLElementTagNameMap and the global HTMLElementTagNameMap), an interface mapping HTML tag names to each JS class's EventMap (google.maps.HTMLElementEventMapTagNameMap), an interface of all custom CSS properties (google.maps.CSSProperties), and each string-based enum has a string union type defined (as ${EnumName}String) and that string union is used for that enum throughout the declarations. addEventListener() is also overloaded on each custom element with its EventMap types, and google.maps.importLibrary() is overloaded to correctly type each returned library for the passed in library name.

  • The Places library has introduced currentOpeningHours, regularSecondaryOpeningHours, and currentSecondaryOpeningHours for identified places. The currentOpeningHours provide opening hours for the upcoming week including any exceptional hours like holidays. The secondary hours are different from a place's main hours and indicate the hours for things like a place's drive through, pickup, or takeout.
  • Fixed an issue in 3D maps where the link to Google Maps was sometimes not updating correctly after the map moved.

At this time, they are not scheduled to be discontinued and will continue to receive bug fixes for any major regressions. At least 12 months notice will be given before support is discontinued.   • [beta channel] Introduced a new MarkerElement allowing you to display custom HTML content within markers on 3D Map. Additionally, a new FlattenerElement can now flatten 3D meshes in specific areas.

  • The Places library has introduced new options for identifying a place when requesting data. In addition to using id, you can now specify a resourceName to initialize a Place object.
  • The Places library has introduced subDestinations for identified places. These subDestinations provide more specific destinations for users who are searching within a large or complex place like an airport, national park, university, or stadium.
  • Fixed an issue where Map3D required an altitude to be specified when setting the center property in JS (now defaults to 0).
  • The Place object from PlaceDetailsElement and PlaceDetailsCompactElement now includes a googleMapsLinks property, which provides URLs for deep-linking into Google Maps for a variety of actions. This includes URIs for viewing the place, getting directions, viewing photos, reading existing reviews, and writing a new review.
