Esse conjunto de dados raster representa uma classificação global e multitemporal de áreas rurais e urbanas, aplicando a metodologia "Grau de urbanização" da fase I recomendada pela Comissão de Estatística da ONU, com base em dados globais de população em grade e de superfície construída gerados pelo projeto GHSL para as épocas de 1975 a 2030 em intervalos de cinco anos.
As camadas do Grau de Urbanização foram geradas integrando informações sobre a superfície construída extraídas dos dados do Landsat e do Sentinel-2 GHS-BUILT-S R2023 e dados de população em grade derivados do CIESIN GPW v4.11 GHS-POP R2023.
Este produto é uma atualização dos dados divulgados em 2023 com base nas atualizações do GHS-BUILT-S e do GHS-POP. O modelo de liquidação é fornecido no nível detalhado (segundo nível - L2). A classificação de primeiro nível pode ser obtida agregando L2.
