adalah produk bergrid Radiasi Gelombang Pendek ke Bawah (DSR) gabungan Terra dan Aqua Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Level 3 yang dihasilkan setiap hari pada resolusi piksel 1 kilometer dengan
estimasi DSR setiap 3 jam. DSR adalah radiasi matahari insiden di atas permukaan daratan dalam spektrum gelombang pendek (300-4.000 nanometer) dan merupakan variabel penting dalam model permukaan daratan yang menangani berbagai masalah ilmiah dan aplikasi. Produk MCD18 didasarkan pada
algoritma pembuatan prototipe yang menggunakan tanda tangan multi-temporal data MODIS untuk
mendapatkan pantulan permukaan dan kemudian menghitung DSR insiden menggunakan pendekatan tabel referensi (LUT). LUT mempertimbangkan berbagai jenis pemuatan aerosol dan awan pada berbagai geometri iluminasi/tampilan. Produk DSR global dihasilkan dari data satelit geostasioner dan MODIS.
