Questo set di dati contiene anomalie mensili della quantità/altezza dell'acqua globale con griglia
rispetto a una media temporale, derivate da GRACE e GRACE-FO ed elaborate presso
il JPL utilizzando l'approccio Mascon (RL06.3Mv04). Questi dati vengono forniti in un unico file di dati in formato netCDF e possono essere utilizzati per l'analisi di fenomeni oceanici, di ghiaccio e idrologici. Le anomalie di accumulo/altezza dell'acqua sono indicate
in unità di spessore d'acqua equivalente (cm). La soluzione fornita qui
deriva dalla risoluzione delle variazioni mensili del campo gravitazionale in termini di
funzioni di concentrazione di massa del cappuccio sferico geolocalizzato, anziché di coefficienti armonici sferici globali. Inoltre, durante l'inversione della soluzione vengono introdotte informazioni
geofisiche realistiche per rimuovere intrinsecamente l'errore correlato. Pertanto, queste griglie Mascon non devono essere
decorrelate o smussate, come le tradizionali soluzioni di gravità armonica sferica.
La soluzione Mascon completa è costituita da 4551 stime relativamente
indipendenti della variazione della massa superficiale,derivate utilizzando una
griglia di mascon individuali di 3 gradi di uguale area. Tieni presente che questo
set di dati non corregge gli errori di dispersione lungo le coste, pertanto
è consigliato solo agli utenti che vogliono applicare il proprio algoritmo
per separare la massa terrestre da quella oceanica molto vicino alle coste.
