Il set di dati NASA NEX-DCP30 è composto da scenari climatici ridimensionati
per gli Stati Uniti contigui, derivati dalle esecuzioni del modello di
circolazione generale (GCM) condotte nell'ambito del Coupled Model
Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5, vedi Taylor et al. 2012)
e nei quattro scenari di emissioni di gas serra noti come
Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP, vedi Meinshausen et al. 2011)
sviluppati per il quinto report di valutazione dell'Intergovernmental Panel
on Climate Change (IPCC AR5). Lo scopo di questi set di dati è fornire
un insieme di proiezioni sul cambiamento climatico ad alta risoluzione e corrette per il bias che
possono essere utilizzate per valutare gli impatti del cambiamento climatico sui processi sensibili
ai gradienti climatici su scala più fine e agli effetti della topografia locale sulle condizioni climatiche.
Il set di dati contiene proiezioni mensili che coprono i periodi dal 1950 al 2005 (esecuzione retrospettiva) e dal 2006 al 2099 (esecuzione prospettica).
Include proiezioni ridimensionate di 33 modelli. Non tutti gli scenari contengono proiezioni di ogni modello.
NEX-DCP30 è stato preparato dal Climate Analytics Group e dal NASA Ames
Research Center utilizzando il NASA Earth Exchange e distribuito dal NASA
Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS).
