O conjunto de dados NEX-DCP30 da NASA é composto por cenários climáticos reduzidos para os Estados Unidos contíguos, derivados das execuções do Modelo de Circulação Geral (GCM) realizadas no Projeto de Intercomparação de Modelos Acoplados Fase 5 (CMIP5, consulte Taylor et al. 2012) e nos quatro cenários de emissões de gases de efeito estufa conhecidos como Caminhos de Concentração Representativos (RCPs, consulte Meinshausen et al. 2011) desenvolvidos para o Quinto Relatório de Avaliação do Painel Intergovernamental sobre Mudanças Climáticas (AR5 do IPCC). O objetivo desses conjuntos de dados é fornecer um conjunto de projeções de mudanças climáticas de alta resolução e corrigidas por viés que podem ser usadas para avaliar os impactos das mudanças climáticas em processos sensíveis a gradientes climáticos de menor escala e aos efeitos da topografia local nas condições climáticas.
O conjunto de dados contém projeções mensais que abrangem os períodos de 1950 a 2005 (execução retrospectiva) e de 2006 a 2099 (execução prospectiva).
Ele inclui projeções reduzidas de 33 modelos. Nem todos os cenários contêm projeções de todos os modelos.
