O conjunto de dados NEX-GDDP da NASA é composto por cenários climáticos reduzidos para o mundo, derivados das execuções do Modelo de Circulação Geral (GCM) realizadas no Projeto de Intercomparação de Modelos Acoplados Fase 5 (CMIP5, consulte Taylor et al. 2012) e em dois dos quatro cenários de emissões de gases de efeito estufa conhecidos como Caminhos de Concentração Representativos (RCPs, consulte Meinshausen et al. 2011).
As execuções do GCM do CMIP5 foram desenvolvidas para apoiar o Quinto Relatório de Avaliação do Painel Intergovernamental sobre Mudanças Climáticas (AR5 do IPCC).
Esse conjunto de dados foi preparado pelo Climate Analytics Group e pelo NASA Ames Research Center usando o NASA Earth Exchange e distribuído pelo NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS).
