O NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis Project é um projeto conjunto entre os National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP, anteriormente "NMC") e o National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). O objetivo desse esforço conjunto é produzir novas análises atmosféricas usando dados históricos, bem como análises do estado atmosférico atual (Sistema de assimilação de dados climáticos, CDAS). O projeto NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis 1 usa um sistema de análise/previsão de última geração para realizar a assimilação de dados usando dados anteriores de 1948 até o presente. Os dados têm resolução temporal de 6 horas (0000, 0600, 1200 e 1800 UTC) e resolução espacial de 2, 5 graus.
