Le système de prévision climatique (CFS, Climate Forecast System) des National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) est un modèle entièrement couplé qui représente l'interaction entre l'atmosphère, les océans, les terres et la banquise de la Terre. Le CFS a été développé au Environmental Modeling Center (EMC) du NCEP. Le CFS opérationnel a été mis à niveau vers la version 2 (CFSv2) le 30 mars 2011.
Les prévisions sont initialisées quatre fois par jour (00h00, 06h00, 12h00 et 18h00 UTC). Il s'agit du même modèle que celui utilisé pour créer l'ensemble de données NCEP Climate Forecast System Reanalysis (CFSR). L'objectif de l'ensemble de données CFSv2 est d'étendre CFSR. Nous n'ingérons qu'un sous-ensemble de bandes à partir des fichiers correspondant à cdas1.t??z.sfluxgrbf06.grib2.
