BigEarthNet adalah arsip tolok ukur Sentinel-2 skala besar baru, yang terdiri dari 590.326 patch gambar Sentinel-2. Untuk membuat BigEarthNet, 125 petak Sentinel-2 diperoleh antara Juni 2017 dan Mei 2018 di 10 negara (Austria, Belgia, Finlandia, Irlandia, Kosovo, Lituania, Luksemburg, Portugal, Serbia, Swiss) di Eropa. Semua petak telah dikoreksi secara atmosferik
oleh alat pembuatan dan pemformatan produk Sentinel-2 Level 2A
(sen2cor). Kemudian, gambar dibagi menjadi 590.326 patch gambar yang tidak tumpang-tindih. Setiap patch gambar diberi anotasi oleh beberapa kelas tutupan lahan (yaitu, multi-label) yang disediakan dari database CORINE Land Cover tahun 2018 (CLC 2018).
