BigEarthNet, 590.326 Sentinel-2 görüntü yamasından oluşan yeni ve büyük ölçekli bir Sentinel-2 karşılaştırma arşividir. BigEarthNet'i oluşturmak için Haziran 2017 ile Mayıs 2018 arasında Avrupa'daki 10 ülkede (Almanya, Avusturya, Belçika, Finlandiya, İrlanda, İsviçre, Kosova, Litvanya, Lüksemburg, Portekiz) 125 Sentinel-2 karesi elde edildi. Tüm döşemeler, Sentinel-2 Level 2A ürün oluşturma ve biçimlendirme aracı (sen2cor) ile atmosferik olarak düzeltildi. Ardından, 590.326 çakışmayan görüntü yamasına bölündüler. Her görüntü yaması, 2018 yılına ait CORINE Land Cover veritabanından (CLC 2018) sağlanan birden fazla arazi örtüsü sınıfı (ör. çoklu etiketler) ile açıklama eklenerek oluşturuldu.
