O Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) é um modelo de oceano de coordenadas isopicnal-sigma-pressão (generalizado) híbrido de assimilação de dados. O subconjunto de dados do HYCOM hospedado no EE contém as variáveis salinidade, temperatura, velocidade e elevação. Elas foram interpoladas para uma grade uniforme de 0,08 grau de latitude/longitude entre 80,48°S e 80,48°N. As variáveis de salinidade, temperatura e velocidade foram interpoladas para 40 níveis z padrão.
O consórcio HYCOM, que inclui o Programa Nacional de Parceria Oceânica (NOPP, na sigla em inglês), faz parte do Experimento Global de Assimilação de Dados Oceânicos (GODAE, na sigla em inglês) dos EUA.
