L'ensemble de données NASA NEX-DCP30 est composé de scénarios climatiques réduits pour les États-Unis contigus, qui sont dérivés des exécutions du modèle de circulation générale (GCM) menées dans le cadre du Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5, voir Taylor et al. 2012) et des quatre scénarios d'émissions de gaz à effet de serre connus sous le nom de Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP, voir Meinshausen et al. 2011) développés pour le cinquième rapport d'évaluation du Groupe d'experts intergouvernemental sur l'évolution du climat (GIEC AR5). L'objectif de ces ensembles de données est de fournir un ensemble de projections sur le changement climatique à haute résolution et corrigées des biais, qui peuvent être utilisées pour évaluer les impacts du changement climatique sur les processus sensibles aux gradients climatiques à plus petite échelle et aux effets de la topographie locale sur les conditions climatiques.
L'ensemble de données contient des projections mensuelles couvrant les périodes allant de 1950 à 2005 (exécution rétrospective) et de 2006 à 2099 (exécution prospective).
Elle inclut des projections à échelle réduite de 33 modèles. Tous les scénarios ne contiennent pas de projections de chaque modèle.
NEX-DCP30 a été préparé par le groupe Climate Analytics et le centre de recherche NASA Ames à l'aide de NASA Earth Exchange, et distribué par le centre NASA pour la simulation du climat (NCCS).
