El conjunto de datos de NEX-GDDP de la NASA se compone de situaciones climáticas a escala reducida para todo el planeta, que se derivan de las ejecuciones del Modelo de Circulación General (MCG) realizadas en el marco de la fase 5 del Proyecto de Intercomparación de Modelos Acoplados (CMIP5, consulta Taylor et al., 2012) y en dos de las cuatro situaciones de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero conocidas como Rutas de Concentración Representativas (RCP, consulta Meinshausen et al., 2011).
Las ejecuciones del GCM del CMIP5 se desarrollaron en apoyo del Quinto Informe de Evaluación del Panel Intergubernamental sobre el Cambio Climático (IPCC AR5).
Este conjunto de datos fue preparado por el Climate Analytics Group y el NASA Ames Research Center con NASA Earth Exchange, y distribuido por el NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS).
