La copertura di ghiaccio è stata mappata utilizzando
una combinazione di immagini pancromatiche ortorettificate (banda 8)
dell'Enhanced Thematic Mapper
Plus (ETM+) di Landsat 7, distribuite dall'USGS, e immagini di ampiezza
del radar ad apertura sintetica (SAR) di RADARSAT-1 prodotte
e distribuite da I. Joughin presso l'Applied Physics
Laboratory, University of Washington.
Le immagini Landsat sono state acquisite per i mesi di luglio
fino a settembre nel 1999, 2000 e 2001 (principalmente 2000)
e le immagini RADARSAT sono state acquisite nell'autunno del 2000.
