Bu veriler, 16 Mart 1984 ile 31 Aralık 2021 arasında elde edilen Landsat 5, 7 ve 8'den alınan 4.716.475 sahne kullanılarak oluşturulmuştur.
Her piksel, bir uzman sistemi kullanılarak su / su olmayan şeklinde ayrı ayrı sınıflandırıldı ve sonuçlar, tüm dönem için aylık bir geçmişte ve değişiklik algılama amacıyla iki dönem (1984-1999, 2000-2021) için derlendi.
