बेहतर मार्कर की मदद से, डिफ़ॉल्ट मार्कर के बैकग्राउंड, बॉर्डर, ग्लिफ़ टेक्स्ट, और टक्कर के व्यवहार को पसंद के मुताबिक बनाया जा सकता है. साथ ही, डिफ़ॉल्ट मार्कर आइकॉन को पसंद के मुताबिक ग्राफ़िक इमेज से बदला जा सकता है.

बेहतर मार्कर के लिए, मान्य mapID की ज़रूरत होती है. मैप आईडी, एक यूनीक आइडेंटिफ़ायर होता है. इससे Google Maps के किसी एक इंस्टेंस की जानकारी मिलती है. Google Cloud Console में, कभी भी मैप आईडी बनाए जा सकते हैं और मैप आईडी से जुड़ी स्टाइल को अपडेट किया जा सकता है.
