Der NASA NEX-GDDP-Datensatz besteht aus heruntergerechneten Klimaszenarien für den Globus, die aus den General Circulation Model (GCM)-Läufen abgeleitet wurden, die im Rahmen des Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5, siehe Taylor et al. 2012) und in zwei der vier Treibhausgasemissionsszenarien, die als Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs, siehe Meinshausen et al. 2011) bekannt sind, durchgeführt wurden.
Die CMIP5-GCM-Läufe wurden zur Unterstützung des fünften Sachstandsberichts des Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR5) entwickelt.
Dieses Dataset wurde von der Climate Analytics Group und dem NASA Ames Research Center mit dem NASA Earth Exchange vorbereitet und vom NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) verteilt.
