Diese Daten wurden anhand von 4.716.475 Szenen von Landsat 5, 7 und 8 generiert, die zwischen dem 16. März 1984 und dem 31. Dezember 2021 aufgenommen wurden.
Jeder Pixel wurde mithilfe eines Expertensystems einzeln als „Wasser“ oder „Nicht-Wasser“ klassifiziert. Die Ergebnisse wurden für den gesamten Zeitraum in einem monatlichen Verlauf und für den Änderungsnachweis in zwei Epochen (1984–1999, 2000–2021) zusammengefasst.
Die Sammlung „Monatliche Wiederholung“ enthält 12 Bilder: monatliche Messungen der Saisonalität von Wasser basierend auf den in diesem Monat über alle Jahre hinweg erkannten Vorkommenswerten.
