تصویر منبع را به یک تصویر منطبق از مجموعه تصویر پیوند می دهد.
هر باند یا ابرداده مشخص شده از تصویر موجود در مجموعه به تصویر منبع اضافه می شود و اگر باندها یا ابرداده ها از قبل وجود داشته باشند، بازنویسی می شوند. اگر تصویر منطبقی پیدا نشد، هر باند جدید یا به‌روزرسانی شده کاملاً پوشانده می‌شود و هر متادیتای جدید یا به‌روزرسانی شده پوچ خواهد بود. ردپای خروجی همانند ردپای تصویر منبع خواهد بود.
در صورتی که تصویر منبع و یک تصویر در مجموعه دارای خاصیت فراداده معادل خاصی باشند، تطابق تعیین می‌شود. اگر بیش از یک تصویر مجموعه مطابقت داشته باشد، تصویر مجموعه انتخاب شده دلخواه است. به‌طور پیش‌فرض، تصاویر در ویژگی فوق‌داده «system:index» مطابقت دارند.
