تسجّل هذه السمة دالة ردّ يتم استدعاؤها عند تغيير النص في مربّع النص.
على وجه الخصوص، يتم استدعاء دالة ردّ الاتصال في الحالات التالية:
- يكتب المستخدم قيمة جديدة ثم إما أن يفقد مربّع النص التركيز أو يضغط المستخدم على مفتاح الإدخال.
- يتم ضبط قيمة جديدة آليًا باستخدام set('value', newValue).
تعرض هذه الطريقة رقم تعريف يمكن تمريره إلى unlisten() لإلغاء تسجيل وظيفة معاودة الاتصال.
